Alfred
Meet Alfred
Alfred was found in 2019 by a lovely girl in Umm al-Fahm after he had been ridden mercilessly until almost nothing was left of his hooves, and he could no longer walk. Basmaala, the girl, did not leave his side until her teacher found him a suitable solution—us. For six hours, Basmaala stood next to him until we arrived.
Alfred was in bad shape. He suffered from severe laminitis in two legs (a well-known and severe condition of the hooves). He arrived here very thin and very sore, unable to take a single step! On the day of his rescue, our veterinarian, Dr. Tal Levy, and our farrier, Guy Netzer, fitted him with silicone hooves that immediately eased the pain and allowed him to walk!
For over a year, Alfred was cared for on a daily basis by Michal, the shelter's medical staff manager, until he recovered. The rehabilitation process was not easy, but the daily improvement was nothing short of amazing!
Today, Alfred is the proud leader of our herd of horses, a purebred Arabian horse of exceptional beauty! His journey from a helpless, injured creature to the majestic, strong horse he is today is a source of joy for all of us. He is fully aware of his beauty and often enjoys showing off his strength. Basmaala, his rescuer, still visits him at the shelter, a heartwarming reminder of the bond they share.
